For more than 40 years, Syracuse Challenger Baseball has provided children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence and community of sports. As the nation's oldest and largest Challenger League, the organization had an ambitious vision: create the largest fully ADA-accessible athletic complex on the East Coast, where athletes of all abilities could play, compete and belong.
Syracuse Challenger Baseball needed to transform a beloved local nonprofit into a highly visible regional cause, one capable of attracting major donors, corporate sponsors, community leaders, media attention and widespread public support.
Hudson West was brought in to help build that movement.
Beginning in 2023, Hudson West led the public relations, media relations and strategic communications supporting the Superfield of Dreams campaign, working alongside the organizations, community leaders, donors and partners responsible for bringing the vision to life.
Our role was to build sustained visibility around both the extraordinary mission of Syracuse Challenger Baseball and the ambitious effort to create its permanent home while helping generate the awareness, credibility, community engagement and fundraising momentum necessary to move the project forward.
Rather than focusing on a single campaign, we created a continuous stream of storytelling that highlighted the athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters who make Challenger Baseball extraordinary. We transformed construction milestones, major gifts, athlete stories, partnerships, events and community achievements into ongoing opportunities for earned media and public engagement.

Our strategy combined:
Strategic Media Relations: Built an ongoing pipeline of local, regional and national earned media highlighting the athletes, families, mission, fundraising milestones and extraordinary scale of the Superfield of Dreams.
Fundraising & Capital Campaign Communications: Turned major gifts, construction progress and campaign milestones into compelling stories that demonstrated momentum, reinforced donor confidence and encouraged continued investment.
Celebrity & Ambassador Engagement: Leveraged high-profile supporters, athletes, media personalities and community leaders to expand awareness and introduce the mission to new audiences.
Corporate & Community Partnerships: Created visibility and storytelling opportunities around corporate sponsors, foundations, donors and community partners, helping demonstrate the broad coalition forming behind the project.
Event & Gala Strategy: Helped conceptualize, promote and execute high-impact fundraising events and experiences designed to generate revenue, media attention, donor engagement and long-term advocacy.
Mission-Driven Storytelling: Put the athletes and families at the center of the campaign, transforming a major construction project into something much more powerful: a story about inclusion, opportunity and belonging.
Every initiative was designed to do more than generate publicity. It was intended to build trust, deepen community support, and inspire investment in a once-in-a-generation project.
Built sustained visibility, donor engagement and community momentum around a multi-year campaign that culminated in the May 2026 opening of the Carrier Park Superfield of Dreams- the largest fully ADA-accessible baseball complex on the East Coast.
Strategic communications amplified major gifts, fundraising milestones and campaign progress, supporting an effort that generated millions of dollars in philanthropic, corporate, government and community investment to bring the Superfield from vision to reality.
Elevated Syracuse Challenger Baseball and the Superfield campaign through a sustained drumbeat of local, regional and national earned media, expanding awareness far beyond the organization’s existing community and continually reinforcing the scale and significance of the mission.
Expanded the campaign’s reach through celebrity participation, corporate sponsorships, foundations, influential ambassadors and community partnerships, bringing new audiences, credibility and fundraising opportunities to the project.
Turned major donations, construction milestones, athlete stories, events and partnerships into compelling earned-media moments, using strategic storytelling to demonstrate momentum, strengthen donor confidence and give new supporters a reason to invest.
The campaign ultimately helped create far more than a sports complex. It established a permanent, world-class home for athletes of all abilities and elevated a powerful message of inclusion, belonging and opportunity that will continue impacting athletes, families and the broader community for generations.
